There’s a field, you bring the people, we bring the fun!

Grass Monkeys have a range of off road go karts (or buggies) that we can bring to your event or corporate day. That’s right – we come to you! All you need to provide is a space, and we’ll do the rest.

Off Road Karts

Not only do Grass Monkeys offer their unique Grass Karts, but they also have a fleet of completely brilliant Off Road Rally Karts too – just waiting for you to get behind the wheel to have some amazing fun!

The Pacer P900 is a tried and tested rugged and reliable off road kart which is suitable for most terrains. With its Honda 270 engine boasting 9HP it has plenty of power to give almost anyone a thrill. Unlike the Grass Karts these are not really designed for head to head racing, but are just perfect for time trials or safaris.

Although they have plenty of grip, you can turn in early and plant the right foot and get the perfect drift round a bend – the satisfaction is priceless and we can pretty much guarantee each time you take the wheel you’ll come out grinning wanting to get back in.

Father and daughter on the Rally Karts

The P900 Rally Karts require more space than the Grass Karts, so are best for locations that have plenty of land. We also have ‘home’ venues available if you don’t have your own, and can be combined with other activities such as Clay Pigeon Shooting, Archery, or amazing Grass Karts, and if they aren’t quite what you’re looking for then please let us know and we will run our fingers through our little black book and see what other activities we can come up with that would be more suited to your tastes.

So if you are looking for an amazingly exciting driving experience for your event at your venue or one of ours, then get in touch!
You won’t be disappointed!

Kids Karting – Parties and Events

Did you know that as far as we are aware – we’re the only people in the UK that do mobile kids karting with proper karts!

Of course we can also offer the battery karts that you find everywhere – usually known as a go kart party, and in fact we have 12 of them, so if you want an indoor party – using one of our amazing indoor inflatable circuits – we can do it! Most companies can only offer 4 karts – but it’s a lot more fun with 8! More info on the battery karts can be found on our dedicated site at www.wackykarts.co.uk

But if you have the space outside, say in a meadow, flat grass field or large lawn (we wouldn’t recommend a ‘bowling green’ type lawn unless you don’t mind tyre tracks!) then why not do something unique – a kid’s outdoor grass karting party?

Our kids karts are the same as their grown up brothers, ie are based on proper circuit racing karts, and come in 2 flavours – Bambini and Cadet. Both are powered by brilliant Honda engines and have off road tyres so they will go places where an ordinary kart won’t.

For safety they have also been fitted with remote engine cut outs so that the marshals can cut the engines from afar, and they also have harnesses and a roll-bar. Because they were designed to be in close proximity to other karts on tight tracks, they have retained their impact bumpers all around, so the drivers are protected in case of a collision. So now you know what they are – you can find out we do with them?

We set up a huge inflatable track, that is kept up either by an electric or a petrol power fan – so we’re not tied to where we can set up. Within this perimeter we can set up a circuit that is as simple or as hard as it needs to be, using cones, tyres and other inflatable barriers. We’ll also section off a pit area, in case they have to pit for any reason.

After getting suited and gloved up, with a helmet and neck brace being fitted and allocated to each child, we have the very important safety briefing. We’ll have sent out a copy of what we’re going to say well in advance of the event so that the parents have a chance to read it to the kids so that they know what’s coming. The briefing really is quite important, and the event start will be delayed if the kids don’t pay attention – as we’ll be testing them! We have to be confident that they will abide by the rules, as we rank safety as paramount, and won’t take any chances.

Once we are set up – now the fun begins!

We will discuss with you in advance of the date how you’d like us to run the party. The drivers are now grouped up in smaller interim groups and they would go out in a practise session so they can get used to the karts and the course, and so that we can get a measure of the drivers’ skills. Once that had completed, we’d then group them up according to ability in as many karts as you’ve selected, to keep it equal when it comes to the racing. We won’t give away how we do this – we have our own special method! Now it’s time for the racing!

We can offer various types of racing – short oval or bendy (with chicanes), again this will have been decided in advance. We can also set colour teams (the kids love choosing team names too!) – so that there’s one of each colour in a group in the first heat. The heats decide the team winners. We will continue the heats until the semi finals, and then the final race – but these are to decide the overall individual winner, and will be presented with a cup on our podium! Runner up and participants medals are also available.

How about adding our video package – where our specialist team will come along and video the day, including drone footage, on board kart GoPro footage, and video interviews, all professionally edited and put together?

It is essential that a waiver has been signed by the parents of each and every child participating – even spectators (young or old).

Grass Karting – What to expect

If you love high octane driving that pumps adrenaline through every vessel of your body then you have found the right place!

What is Grass Karting?
Grass Karting was invented by a Spitfire test pilot Alex Henshaw in the 1950s who loved tinkering with machinery on his farm in Lincolnshire. He founded a club which still exists today, but it was in New Zealand that the sport really took off. this is raw fun! The United States weren’t far behind though, and developed their own form of Grass Karting on short ovals – the Nascar of karting! Essentially a grass kart is a flat chassis kart with a rear roll bar (or not), and is not to be confused with buggies.

Grass Monkeys are the only commercial grass karting company in the spirit of the original concept.
This is Grass Karting NEw Zealand style in the 1960s…

Grass Monkeys have taken commercial track karts and extensively modified them to bring you Britain’s only commercial Grass Karting outfit – and what’s more – we can offer 3 flavours of racing! Our Grass Karts have a completely different gearing system to normal track karts, affording them lots of torque and rapid acceleration, at the same time they are fitted with much bigger wheels than a track kart so that humps bumps and mounds are no problem.

Here are some of our Grass Karts undergoing testing on the farm – hills are no problem! Check out how manoeuvrable they are!!

Almost all off road karting operations only allow stage karting – where the karts go off at intervals and don’t meet, but that’s where we are completely different! Our unique grass karts still come with the rugged bumper systems found on indoor karting tracks, so that proper full on bumper to bumper action is the order of the day (although it must be emphasised that deliberate ramming will get you black flagged and out of the running).

What else is different? Well, put a track kart on a bumpy surface and while yes they will eventually move – they prefer the slick flat surfaces of asphalt or concrete, and acceleration is woeful. Put your foot down in one of our karts and wow! The acceleration is phenomenal! The gearing in the adult karts is also variable – so once you are moving the ratio’s change so that you have the best of both worlds – low down torque and long distance speed. So throw the kart into a corner, flick the wheel and put it into a slide, keep the power down and the engine will throw enough torque down to keep you power drifting round the bend… off the throttle and it straightens up and off you go! Seriously the most fun you can have with your clothes on!

So what kind of racing can you do with our grass karts? Well we can set them up in different ways – using different wheels, tyres, and tyre pressures. That means we can set them up for drifting, for short ovals, or for endurance/circuit racing.
